Archer Capital is the successor to the Byvest Management Buyout Group, which was established in 1986 as the first dedicated leveraged buyout manager in Australia.

Following the assimilation of Byvest into the Grant Samuel Group in the early 1990s, GS Private Equity was formed in 1997 to continue in the role of managing leveraged buyout funds.

GS Private Equity was bought out of the Grant Samuel Group in early 2004 and re-named Archer Capital. When the group changed its name to Archer Capital it moved into its current premises in Sydney’s Dawes Point.
